Jessica Alba Tackles Action Role in 'The Insiders'

If you've had a chance to watch the grueling promo trailer for The Killer Inside Me, you know already that it's potenially the riskiest role of Jessica Alba's none-too-breathtaking career. I don't know whether it's a real step forward for her acting - it's only a trailer, even if it's longer than usual - but I can say in no uncertain terms that it's the most liberated she's been on screen, and whatever squeaky clean image she portrayed before I saw Casey Affleck whip her bare ass and slap her around has been at least temporarily reevaluated.

Pajiba now writes that Alba will pair with Mabrouk el Mechri, director of JCVD, for the graphic novel adaptation The Insiders. Over the summer, Alba bought the rights to the Belgian comic book series with Robert Rodriguez, who is set to produce for his Sin City and Machete co-star. Alba will play an action heroine, hopefully with more resolve than she did those paperthin Fantastic Four movies, not that her acting was the primary issue there.
Here's the breakdown on the story if you're unfamiliar, which I was:

“Najah Cruz (is) a Columbian who is as deadly as she is beautiful. She has the weapons expertise and combat skills of a James Bond. At the secret request of the White House she infiltrates a worldwide mafia-like organization composed of businessmen and politicians and becomes the bodyguard of the organization’s leader.”Alba has actually shown more gumption since returning from her maternity leave. Killer Inside Me, based on the book, can't really be read as anything other than a sick, twisted crime story, the Machete turn could work out for her, and this sounds like the sort of role she should have been playing all along. There are not nearly enough action starlets in the world, which is why Angelina Jolie gets most of those roles. Clearly, Jolie is also a more focused and talented actor than Alba, but that doesn't make a whole lot of difference in ass-kicking movies. So, more of this, please. And maybe she'll be convincing enough to get that Wonder Woman role once and for all.

I am a big fan of Jessica Alba and now glad to see this post about her involvement in action roles. I am really very impressed and wanna see her in some of the action games as a roll modal.
