First Look at 'Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader'

These photos are all around, but we grabbed them specifically from Filmofilia, so we'll give them the credit. It's our first glimpse of The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which Fox will release next December.

It's a far longer and more arduous process to get these books to the screen than was ever necessary. I suppose no board room was going to take a seven-film franchise too seriously before The Matrix and Lord of the Rings, and even though Lion, Witch maybe fell short cinematically, it kind of does on the page, too. I enjoyed Prince Caspian a lot more, even if the tone of the story is a lot stronger than in the first story. But Disney got scared by diminishing returns and it appeared as though the series was dead after two movies.

The truth is, Narnia is too good and too seminal for that kind of treatment, so I'm happy it's back. Fox picked up the rights, brought in the esteemed Michael Apted to direct, and cut down budgets that had spun out of control. So take a look at the new pics and keep this one in mind the weekend before Tron next year.

I want to go see this just because they filmed a bit of it near where I live (in Australia). They built the massive boat there.
