Video: 'Avatar' - Making a Scene

The Fox Movie Channel (via Hulu) goes inside Avatar with James Cameron, and in this "Making a Scene" presentation, we see more stuff from the movie, get more cast interviews, and hear a lot from Cameron himself.

While I'm still totally unconvinced about the faces of the performance capture 3-D aliens (or their faces, at least), all the other digital creations look pretty damn terrific, even on a small 2-D screen. However, as Cameron asks in this video, "Could we create a computer-generated character that would be completely believable as photoreality? That was our challenge from the get-go; that was the challenge when I wrote this 14 years ago." And I don't know yet. For that, I'll need the 3-D and I'll need to have the complete context.

But here's about ten minutes of behind-the-scenes Avatar stuff. It really helps you get a sense of the scope of the production. Even though so much of this is computer animation, it's hardly just actors standing in front of a green screen.
