RDJ Just Wants to Do 'Sherlock' and 'Iron Man' Now

It's always hard to know whether or not to take Robert Downey, Jr. seriously. He's can be a bit dodgy in his interviews, and sometimes when you look at the entertaining answers, they have nothing to do with the questions. But he recently admitted he might like to slow down or stop working altogether. To me, it sounded like a guy who was just overworked.

But he extends that line of thinking a little bit in a new interview with Empire, which came to us from Worst Previews. He's got his franchises in place, of course, and Downey doesn't sound like he wants to do much more work beyond them. Again, he could just be wiped out from the schedule he's kept for the past two years, but he's singing a familiar tune.

"To tell you the truth, I would be happy to bounce back and forth between Sherlock Holmes and Tony Stark until I am forcibly retired," the actor admitted. "And also, fortunately, not unlike Iron Man, there is a way to continue along the lines of it and not become increasingly embarrassed by my greying hair and ropey muscles."

Now, that's not as concrete as Viggo Mortensen saying he has no plans to work again, but it's interesting that he brings up the R word twice in a few weeks. Until then, though, he does have at least three more movies as Tony Stark, as well as more of the world's greatest detective.

"Between Guy [Ritchie] and me, the missus (producer Susan Downey) and Joel Silver, we definitely know what we would like to do for the next two sequels," Downey said. The first adventure is in theaters on December 25th, but do you think this is all we'll see of Mr. Downey from now on? He has three films lined up that aren't in either franchise, but he'll be done with those in a year or so. Then what?
