Trailer - The One-Room British Thriller 'Exam'

For lack of a better comparison, Exam looks like Saw in a business suit. It's a single-room thriller, upping the stakes from two characters to eight, and they're not handcuffed to steam pipes or anything, but rather, handcuffed to their own imaginations. In less than two hours, it appears that all of the candidates for a plum job turn on each other and make the waiting an even harder part than Tom Petty ever imagined. Oh, it's preposterous, all right, but I'm always up to see if a movie can work when it sets itself up with very rigid rules like this. Once you get beyond its nature and accept that something has to happen to start and resolve the story. Admittedly, it's tough to do that in a two-minute trailer, so it looks a bit silly as it unfolds here, but as I said, it's interesting to watch movies like this to see if they can make their own case. We have no US release date yet, but as you saw, Exam will be in UK cinemas at the beginning of the year.
