A Couple New Commercials for 'Nine'

We finally have some commercials for Nine, which is pretty distinguishable from the other Best Picture hopefuls because of its major league cast and it's the only musical anywhere near the running. If you've been following our coverage of Nine, you won't see a whole lot that's new in these ads, but if not, you'll be clued in as to why this film has been on the Academy Awards radar for a while.

To me, the focus should be Dion Beebe's cinematography. He was nominated for director Rob Marshall's Chicago, and won a couple years later for Marshall's Memoirs of a Geisha, so maybe the second and third time is the charm. The movie has good odds in the supporting actress category, too, but I think this is the one category where it has the biggest advantage over the competition.

You can see a little bit of what we're talking about in these commercials, and remember, the film will be out for the holidays.
