Paul Greengrass Quits 'Bourne 4'?

Here's a story you should definitely follow for a while: The Playlist reports that sources close to the production are indicating director Paul Greengrass has walked away from Bourne 4, leaving a project that was already kind of up in the air significantly up in the air.

The fourth film was shoved out there by the producers and Universal quite a while ago, and the production timetable has been consistently pushed back ever since. Matt Damon's most recent update put the film going in front of camera between 18 months and two years from this fall.

Greengrass was apparently miffed that Universal brought in a second writer, Josh Zetumer, to write a "parallel" script to the one George Nolfi has been working on. According to the report, Greengrass wasn't consulted about the move, and that, on top of his protracted schedule and expanding budget for the studio's Green Zone, was just more than the director could take.

It could mean we won't get a movie at all, because Damon is probably not interested without Greengrass, or it could mean Universal, realizing how quickly the airbrakes would come on if the public was faced with a Damon-less Bourne at this stage, might give Greengrass even more control. Or, Universal could try to work out something with Damon to keep him in the fold without Greengrass...which would obviously give Damon more stroke.

It's a really well-written piece at The Playlist, so check it out. But let me ask you before you go: Would you rather see a fourth Bourne without the combo of Greengrass and Damon or no fourth Bourne at all?

I want another bourne movie, if it is another director, so be it. It might not be as good, but it deffinetly will not be as shaky. The first movie was doug liman, not greengrass, and was a very good action movie. Was it better than 2 or 3, NO, is it a fun watch, YES. I am all in Greengrass or not.

IM SOOOO TORNNN!!!

While I desperatley want another Bourne film, I dont want the near perfection of the series to be tarnished by a bad 4th film....

Uggghhh, I just dont know, I would like there to be a 4th and it be amazing, but who doesnt want that... I just dont know...

I say maybe look for a another director with some expertise in this type of genre of spy/secret agent/undercover type film...shall I suggest maybe District 9's director ???
