Monday, November 30, 2009 at 2:57AM The 2009 Satellite Award Nominees
Every year, The International Press Academy hands out the Satellite Awards, which used to be the Golden Satellite Awards. The key in all of this is "Press Academy," meaning this may look similar to some Oscar nominees, but it's not at all the same groups of voters.

There's one other caveat before we show you the nominees and the IPA's top ten movies of the year, which is that the Satellites share the Golden Globes dileniation between drama and musical/comedy films...but only in certain categories. That's still very annoying. Why not Best Director, Musical or Comedy if you have two acting awards and a Best Picture for that split?
Be that as it may, there are a few movies you probably wouldn't expect to see and some you won't find here that you thought you would. Conspicuous by their absence are Invictus and The Lovely Bones. If you want to see the entire list, head over to Awards Daily.

Wow Bradley Cooper nominated for Best Actor .... thats dead wrong, what the hell? And no Zach anywhere, completely dont agree with this ...
They seem to really love 500 Days of Summer, a lot more than I expected, which is cool
Shohreh Aghdashloo - The Stoning of Soraya M.
= a huge surprise Ive heard many things about this movie and have been meaning to see it, seems very relevant especially given our current political climate, great pick especially given the went extremely under the radar
