Boyle Directing Mountaineer Bio-pic '127 Hours'
Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 6:28AM
As we previously reported, Danny Boyle's follow-up to Slumdog Millionaire will be the story of mountaineer Aron Ralston. You'll remember Ralston pinned himself literally between a rock and hard place - the title of his memoirs - and had no alternative but to amputate his own arm with a dull knife.

The Spice of Life says the film is tentatively called 127 Hours, and if you're slow, I'll tell you why: That's how long Ralston was trapped, no food and very little water, no passers-by, no way to survive other than remove the offending appendage (which was dead at that point anyway) rappel a 65-foot wall while obviously in shock (not to mention the effects of five days stranded) and then maneuver himself another eight miles before he was finally discovered by tourists.
So, yeah, that's a story, all right. Boyle intimated last month that he'd like to shoot as early as next March now that all the details are ironed out. The rumor is that he'd like to cast Ryan Gosling as Ralston. As you can see from Ralston's photo above, there's not enough of a similarity to think they're related or anything, but Marc Singer is way too old and way too Beastmaser. But it's close enough, especially since Gosling is such a good actor.
That hasn't been confirmed, but the earlier news turned out to be right on the money so we'll keep tabs on that to see if anything else develops. Of course, now that Gosling has been linked to the role, it's going to be awfully hard to visualize anyone else being cast.

You know your a geek when you here this story and think of Aqua man in Justice League.
go Gosling!
He'd be perfect for the role in my opinion, this film is something like I AM LEGEND with Will Smith, just for the fact that 1 actor must carry the film throughout the whole story alone onscreen probably 95% of the time...
It defititley worked for Will being that movie cashed in and was a huge success..
I can see Ryan as wanting this role seems up his alley... hopefully he has no other commitments
