Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 2:36AM Paltrow, Kidman are Man and Wife in 'The Danish Girl'
I know who's not going to be watching The Danish Girl: Dudes. If you think you had trouble getting a
dude to see Brokeback Mountain, then just try getting him off the couch in football season to see a movie in which Nicole Kidman plays a post-op transsexual. And if you were still holding out hope, you should know Gwyneth Paltrow will play Nicole's wife.

Yep, if there's three things guys generally don't want to see in their movies, it's Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, and trannies. But The Danish Girl is a drama full of, well, drama, and because it's directing by Let the Right One In's Tomas Alfredson, the cineastes will probably line up for it.
Here's the breakdown of the plot from Variety:

"One afternoon in 1920s Copenhagen, Greta, a portrait painter, asked her husband to stand in for an absent female model. Slipping on a dress, stockings and woman’s shoes began a metamorphosis into Lili. When the photos became wildly popular, Greta encouraged her husband to do more, but a harmless game evolved into something deeper that threatens their marriage.""Kidman had already been attached to play Einar, and Paltrow will play Greta, who stood by her partner through the sex-change operation, finally letting go when she realized the man she married no longer exists." Well, that'll have to be handled delicately. Actually, though she's done less of it since her Oscar, when Kidman does more serious work, it's usually worth watching. Even after her Oscar, she took on some difficult roles, like Birth and Fur, and ain't nobody gives a damn when she winds up in stuff like The Invasion or Bewitched. I know she's up to the task at hand, and she's got oodles of money, so why not do the roles that require the effort? This is certainly a start.

I've got nothing against Paltrow. she was adorable in Iron-Man. What do you mean what about her other movies? She had other movies?? Guess I need to get out more or perhaps... she does. At the very least I can count on catching her in Iron-Man 2.
