Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 12:11AM Singer Confirms He's Directing 'X-Men: First Class'
Well, this is big news: Bryan Singer revealed on the Avatar "blue carpet" that he has sealed a deal with Fox
to direct X-Men: First Class. Flickchart Tweeted the news a few hours ago, so thanks to them for being right on top of this
one.

Singer directed the first two X-Men movies, otherwise known as the good ones, and I had hopes that he might do the
Wolverine sequel because he's mentioned for a while how much he wants to get back in the Marvel Universe. However, from
Singer's perspective, it's a better situation to invent your own franchise than come in trying to scoop water out of the boat on
another.
I don't know if the film will be a literal update of the comic or if, in longstanding Marvel movie fashion, they play with chronology and characters a little bit to serve future potential movies. The good news - if you like a ton of Marvel characters, that is - is First Class features quite a few walk-on roles from other characters throughout the Universe. The primary players are Beast, Jean Grey, Iceman, Angel, and Cyclops, the first students who mentored under Charles Xavier.
This will apparently be branded as an Origins film, and Lauren Shuler Donner said a few months ago that it could go into production in 2010. The big challenge is finding the young talent who can bridge the audience between what they'll see here and what they know from the first trilogy.

So the unofficial title would possibly be "X-Men Origins: First Class"?? That's not completely horrible, I guess.
Man, I'm just gonna ignore all these "unnecessary prequels/sequels/spin-offs" stories from now on. I'm sure everyone's sick of me complaining. Although having Singer at the helm might bode well, but still....c'mon! Another movie?!
i wonder if thats why gambit was in the wolverine movie. To set up his appearance for this one
Doubtful as Gambit wasn't an original X-Man from what I recall. He came about much later....though i am nto completely 100% on that....more of a DC man myself :P
As long as Patrick Steward comes back i'll be happy.
Great to have Bryan Singer back in the Xmen , Marvel universe and of course Patrick Stewart
