Watch the First Teaser Trailer for 'The Runaways'

Our first look at The Runaways is revealing. Music bio-pics tend to gloss over stuff and put a bright, shiny polish on the events of the performer's life. The Runaways, about the seminal all-girl glam/punk group of the same name, appears to be moody, reckless, and even sweaty, if that can be conveyed through a 50-second teaser. this could be the beginning of Dakota Fanning's second phase. Sure, she's done the child actress thing to death, but given how good she was as a six-year-old in I am Sam, why not? But that was a decade ago and now she's fronting The Runaways, and it sure seems like an intentional move to go for the grown-up role. For Kristen Stewart, playing Joan Jett here, I suppose this allows her to flip the bird to a film series (Twilight) I think she may not enjoy all that much. She certainly seemed incredibly distant in New Moon, like she was going through the motions. So I expect her to go for broke here.
