First 'Knight and Day' Trailer with Cruise and Diaz

We've mentioned the trailer for Knight and Day a couple of times in the past few days, and now it's finally online. It was in theaters last weekend, and several days later, it's finally here for you. The movie was called Wichita until about a month ago, and I preferred that, even though that's not a great name, either. But the trailer's OK, more entertaining that I would have imagined. They're clearly going for a Mr. and Mrs. Smith vibe with it, but I don't think audiences will have the innate curiosity about Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz that they did Brangelina while that whole thing was bubbling to the surface. But it's an action comedy; that much is clear. Maybe too much comedy, given the principals.

The summer release date shouldn't hurt, but if the crowds don't come, being a summer movie will actually underscore the stars' inability to open a movie these days. Being a July 4th weekend movie certainly puts it in the spotlight.

couldn't be more spot on if you tried. Pity they couldn't have slipped Eddie Murphy in it too he's as due for a comeback as anyone. Perhaps in a supporting role, something like Serge from the Beverly Hills Cop flick or would that be too ironic, shameful even?

Knight and Day is Tom Cruise's comeback after his brilliant cameo in Tropic Thunder two years ago and after years of PR nightmare about his religion and marriage. The earlier films of Cruise were more like films accentuating his acting skills in drama. Everyone enjoyed his performances and adorable looks. His choices turned to big budget action movies in time and we have watched some of the more successful and fun action movies of Hollywood's golden years of superstars. However, with his personal life taking the main stage and gathering too much attention along with criticism, we had not seen him making a good movie of either kind.
