It's no secret that a sequel to Paranormal Activity is inevitable. Over $100 million in the US and almost no budget, so not only is Paramount going back for seconds, the studio is starting up a production wing that will specialize in micro-budget films just like it.

Movieweb talked to one of the film's two stars, Micah Sloat, to discuss the sequel. And so far, it sounds like everyone's dodged at least one bullet.
"I can definitely tell you that Paramount and the producers are very aware of what happened with Blair Witch 2, and how you can't really take something that's unique like Blair Witch or Paranormal and then follow it up with just a typical, Hollywood horror film," Sloat said. "It just doesn't work."
Yes, that's true. If there's one thing Blair Witch: Book of Shadows didn't do, it was work. But beyond that, it completely killed the franchise for a decade. There's now talk of a proper sequel to that film, but look what Book of Shadows did in the years since 1999. I'll admit you can only watch Blair Witch once for it to have the maximum effect, but there was enough to build on moving forward and the producers missed their chance.
Of course, if there is a sequel (SPOILER ALERT), what the hell would Micah Sloat have to do with it? I think we saw how that panned out already.
In the meantime, director Oren Peli has already shot his follow-up, a similarly lo-fi movie about Area 51.
