Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 10:27PM Blu-ray Art and Details for 'Black Dynamite'
There's not much to report other than the fact Black Dynamite will be on DVD and Blu-ray on February
16th, but hey - Black Dynamite will be on DVD and Blu-ray on February 16th. Click below to see the full Blu-ray cover, courtesy of DVD Active.

Now, if you aren't familiar with the movie, it's a faux blaxploitation film about a former CIA agent who is called back into action when The Man kills his brother and starts running heroin into the inner city's black orphanages. Michael Jai White is world's most bad-assss former spy taking the streets back for justice, and I sure wish the film got a bigger chance in theaters. Less than a quarter-million bucks in revenue hardly seems like a fair shake.
If you've seen the trailers and stuff, you might think that the film has been digitally tweaked to look the way it does. The film's cinematographer, Shawn Maurer, used a special film stock which was then combined with some old stock footage to achieve the very realistic early 1970s vibe.
One cool feature that I'm sure other films have used before (but more should adopt it moving forward) is what's being called here a "Comic Con Experience" featurette, which may just be press conferences and stuff, but it's still perfect for a film like this that has to operate on that kind of grass roots level to get by.
Additionally, you'll get the usual stuff, although the deleted and alternate scenes might be worth a look, too. Again, Black Dynamite is out in February, so be on the lookout.
Feel the funk!

Thanx for the news. It's a shame this didn't get a big run in theatres.
