Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 7:42PM Taylor Lautner In Line for 'Vision Quest' Remake
You can knock Taylor Lautner all you want (and feel free, by the way; I've seen better acting from
suspects on Cops), but you can't deny that he's going to be in the public eye for a while thanks to Twilight and New Moon and whatever's upcoming up for the 17-year-old shirtless werewolf.

That next thing in the pipeline could be a remake of Vision Quest, and 80s flick with Matthew Modine and Linda
Fiorentino that is probably at its best as a reason to have a soundtrack. Remember Madonna's "Crazy for You"? That was the big hit.
Actually, I think I'd rather have Taylor Lautner remake that song than the movie.
E! says that there's already a script, which Lautner reportedly has read. Team Jacob
is "really excited about it," says a source. "It's very much in line with his athleticism. His character is someone who's striving
for greatness."
The character is a high school wrestler, which does work with Lautner's obvious physicality, and if there's very little dialogue,
then this could be a solid vehicle for him. As a movie, though, I don't think it can work if there's a lot of depth. The real
challenge is finding a Linda Fiorentino type, because with her attitude, they don't exactly grow on trees.

I like Taylor Lautner as Jacob, it's the rest of the principal cast (i.e. Rob & Kristen) that instills unintentional laughter from their acting.
So how many stupid, unnecessary 80s remakes are we up to now? Like 20? Excluding all the horror re-dos, we've got "Footloose", "Red Dawn", "Predators", "Short Circuit", "The Karate Kid"...what else am I missing?
Yeah...I agree with Vince...Visionquest, although I liked it at the time, was not groundbreaking and/or earthshattering...or any other metaphor I can think of that destroys soil. Totally an unnecessary remake.
