It sounds as though DC Entertainment, the newly reassembled DC film outfit over at Warner Bros., may have turned a real corner on its Justice League of America movie. According to producer Dan Lin, who spoke to Collider, "[It] seems like they're building to Justice League instead of going with the team movie first and doing individual movies after that."
It's the same method crosstown rival Marvel Comics is approaching its Avengers arc with Paramount, but a different approach than the one DC was committed to back about two years ago. At the time, DC wanted to build out from JLA rather than introduce the individual characters first.
Good move? Probably. I'm still not certain The Avengers will work as well as Marvel wants it to, and DC faces the added hurdle of dealing with characters not developed with JLA in mind. Can they roll Batman and Superman into this while Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight series is still incredibly fresh in peoples' minds and the most recent Superman movie might not be exactly where audiences want to pick up on that saga.
Now...the good news might be that we'll get a Wonder Woman movie out of all this. We're long overdue, and as I've said before, it's the only legit advantage DC has over Marvel, which really struggles for a top-notch heroine. I can't believe DC hasn't figured out what to do with that property yet, and Lin says it's still up in the air.
"Just as an outside observer I know they talk about it as a movie and also a TV show," Lin said. "I don't know if they've
figured out which way to go or is it better to put her in a team movie first and then have her come off that."
Wow. OK then. Still a problem, I see.
No matter what happens with Wonder Woman, it's still better to start with the characters and then combine them in one film than turning that around. Lin tells Collider DC will be "unveiling their strategy" next month, so stay tuned.

DC's should be more successful than Marvel's Avengers just because of the notoriety of it's members... I think it's pretty obvious that the JLA crew is more well known as individuals than its counterpart.
Yes, but DC doesn't know what to do with them, as evidenced by a lack of direction in the Superman films since, like, 1981, and only one more good Batman movie than bad. And, not having any sense of where to take Wonder Woman is distressing, too. They should all be slam dunks, but minus Christopher Nolan, who won't be involved in this more than likely, I don't think there has been a great DC movie since 1992.
Yeah but don't forget James Cameron's Aquaman, the highest grossing movie of all time.
This project still is going to take a long time to get off the ground. Green Lantern is floundering and if Wonder Woman is coming first, I don't expect this movie to get a release until at least 2014. As for Avengers, I am willing to bet a delay is coming up, just because of the scale of the project. Don't count on its scheduled 2011 release
Wonder Woman in this pic...looks like an angry Kirstie Alley
