Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 9:13PM 'Prince of Persia' Featurette: 'The Sands of Time'
Jerry Bruckheimer's latest major push will be or is already Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. It'll be out on Memorial Day weekend, but once upon a time it was supposed to be released in June of this year, the week before Transformers, in fact. The upcoming Tooth Fairy was also a June 19th film at one time, if you can believe it.

The extra time Bruckheimer and Disney gave Persia allows for things like this, the second in what promises to be a long line of featurettes related to the video game adaptation. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to them so far, like Watchmen's once-a-month video journals, but it is keeping the name out there a little bit before the studio really starts pushing it, which should be sometime between Alice in Wonderland and the summer kick-off.
The latest featurette explains, through Bruckheimer, director Mike Newell, and Jake Gyllenhaal, what the hell the sands of time really are.

Although I think they've injected a little too much tongue-in-cheek comedy, based on the trailer, if they dumb down the script enough and keep it simple, there's room for this to be entertaining.

well that just looks like a watered down version of the awesome video game. Im pretty sure mike newell was the one who messed up harry potter and the goblet of fire. I can tell from that featurette they totally missed what made the game special. It was a different time where glory was rewarded instead of detested. That's why 300 was so perfect, the morality, but it looks like they didn't the morality and instead are going to water down the prince and make him a modern hero, which is just wrong. The first prince of persia was the best, the third game was 2nd best and the 2nd game was the worst. There's going to many scenes in the night dessert with fires and too many unneccessary special effects. So help me if this movie bombs and they decide not to make anymore because of that im going to be mad
I have been playing Prince of Persia from last few months and this is great to know that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. I am thankful to all the game team and appreciate you all to create this, because this is one of the best strategy games of my game collection.
People hate on this way too easily since it's a videogame movie. Videogames can have good stories that can cross into different mediums. I think Prince of Persia is one of them, and always have. It's going to have fun action and an epic fantasy story. Don't throw it aside because all videogame movies have been crap. They've been making them from games that really didn't have the weight they needed. Prince of Persia could be great.
