Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 9:29AM Mel Gibson Now Co-Producing 'Mad Max 4'
The last we heard about Mad Max 4: Fury Road, British actor Tom Hardy was the most likely replacement for Mel Gibson. Of course, details about the project are hard to pin down, and Hardy himself said recently he doesn't know if he's been cast or even what role he's up for, which leads to even more speculation about the latest chapter in this story.

Now Moviehole reports that Gibson will be involved in the film at some level, his Icon Entertainment announcing it will co-produce Mad Max 4. That doesn't expressly mean anything other than Mel Gibson is a pretty shrewd businessman, which we already knew, and he recognizes the worldwide interest this project might attract.
However, in the interest of speculation, Moviehole wonders if Gibson might not appear in the film, and throws out what a good idea it would be if he narrated the story. I've read that this might be a prequel, and if that's the case, Gibson can't play Max Rockatansky on screen, but having him serve as the narrator would give the movie a little added continuity.
Of course, on the flip side, this could only be a producing deal, and Gibson might have zero interest in it beyond that. But now that the what if is out there, I kind of like the idea of having him revisit Mad Max in some capacity, even if he is just doing a voiceover.

Okay then. This is how it's done. Learn how to play, playas'. This is what the hold-out was about. I like the idea of it being a prequel. The idea of it set during the time of the first movie when "the Bronze" were the law would be really interesting. "Give us back our heroes."
