Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 6:03PM Mark Wahlberg Talks Up An 'Entourage' Movie
It's probably fitting that Entourage could end up as a movie. Mark Wahlberg said on the red carpet that there are two more seasons of the show on HBO, and he should know since he's a producer and all. He told The Hollywood Reporter, "There could be more. But then, a movie."

It reads funny, but I think the interpretation is that there are two seasons HBO has committed to, and if they choose to do more, that might happen. No matter what, Wahlberg is planning to do a movie after the show wraps up. HBO even says it's a good bet to happen, meaning...it's going to happen.
"It is not out of the realm of possibility," said the network's spokesperson. "Right now, the creators are concentrating on the new season."
HBO made a mountain of cash co-producing Sex and the City, but I don't think it's a stretch to say that has/had much bigger box office potential than Entourage, just from the standpoint that the Carries, Samanthas, Charlottes, and the other ones of their local girl cliques made the show such a cultural touchstone. I don't believe Entourage is in that rarified air. Sopranos would be, but not this.
Still, you'd have to think a movie would do well enough, especially if they somehow turned it into a movie-within-a-movie kind of thing.

Movie would end at the oscars guaranteed and be the first thing to shoot on location at the kodak during the ceremony (if they can work out the network issues).
Yeah, it's so unlike AMPAS to hold its hand out for money. I like the idea, though.
