Clive Owen Ready To Spend All His Time On Stage
Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 2:48AM
There's a lot of retirement talk going around these days. Viggo Mortensen says he's not really high on the notion of making more movies. Robert Downey, Jr. commented recently that he's perfectly content making Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man movies and nothing else for a while and then calling it a career. Now Clive Owen is saying he might transition to only performing on stage.
He tells Germany's Tele5 that "I'm actually pretty sure that this will happen soon. I would imagine I have to stop the films in order to concentrate entirely on my stage career."
Unlike Mortensen and Downey, who sounded like they were just burned out and weren't looking to keep up that schedule much longer, Owen has a calculated career shift in mind. He wants to keep working, just not in movies. And he's downright philosophical about it.
"I often have to pinch myself to make me realize what I achieved," Owen continued. "But perhaps you should, on the peak of your career, think about the fact that it probably can't always go on like this and that there are other things that make you happy, too."
I was not always a fan, but over the past half-decade or so, I've come to respect Owen a good deal. It would be a shame to see him go, so perhaps he can strike a balance and still show up on screen from time to time.

I think his best performance was privateer 2.
I dont get what with all this retirment talk out of these relatively young actors...
I mean I really dont believe them for shit to be honest, I mean once they need some money they'll come on back, but what I have a problem with is that why call it a retirement? They should be calling it a break because I highly doubt any of them will stay retired for so long...
With Clive's situation, I mean the stage is magical, but once again its about money as well...I know Im being shallow but still it's always a part of it, maybe not the most part but it is a part of it....
The stage is a lot of work, performing everyday, some days 2wice, and not for any money compared to films, I dunno I think Clive will come back to films sooner or later...
