Monday, December 7, 2009 at 11:24AM New 'Avatar' Running Time and Featurettes
Just a quick note that the officially official running time for Avatar has been announced by Fox. Back in mid-November, we heard that it was about two-and-a-half hours, but it's a touch longer than that: 161 minutes, 34 seconds. So, with trailers, you're essentially looking at three hours.

As luck would have it, there are two new featurettes for James Cameron's film, exploring the brave new world of Pandora. This is slightly different than the video about the creatures and machinery in Avatar, though there is some overlap. However, most of this is new to me. It plays a bit like a nature documentary with sigourney Weaver narrating.
The second video revolves around the story, which seems simpler than its many details. However, it's the details that allow Cameron to expand the horizons of visual effects, and if you need any addition evidence that he's doing that here, dive right in...

I saw a commercial yesterday (the late afternoon NFL game on Fox, I believe) that touted, "Movies will never be the same." Well...we'll see. And we'll see in about 10 days, actually.

I don't understand why some people are not excited about this movie. The more i see of this the more excited i am. This is going to be another great story told from Mr.Cameron. One that makes u feel so many different emotions throughout the movie. Already I can't wait til it comes out on blu ray so i can see the beautiful world of Pandora on my plasma. The bright colors of this world are incredible! I think this movie is going to be the best movie of the year. I think a big reason why is because people are now changing their minds and saying it already looks disappointing compared to their expectations. I think this could actually surprise alot of people because of that and be similar to Titanic. Not in overall numbers but I think it may start out alot slower than most people think and then word of mouth may blow this thing into another realm. Much like the Hangover with like 75% of its audience coming after opening weekend. I'm already planning on going twice opening weekend. I'm very stoked about this movie!
