'Resident Evil: Afterlife' Facing Production Problems
Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 2:03AM
The fourth Resident Evil movie, subtitled Afterlife, may have hit a snag. Shock Till Ya Drop reports that the 3-D needed to make the film ("needed" is a negotiable word in this instance, I'll grant you) might
be causing a few problems with the production, although it's nothing that can't be ironed out with just a little more time.

Instead of an September 2010 release date, Shock says it may wait until January 2011. That's now been confirmed by the studio: 1.14.11. Ah, January, the dead zone. What better time for
a movie with the undead, really? But Milla Jovovich rushed out a Tweet saying talk of a delay, while possible, is a little
premature:

"RE Afterlife IS NOT officially pushed. There have been talks of pushing it as they [are] not sure they can have it ready by July. We [are] trying as hard as we can to still meet the summer deadline though, so for the moment its still on for August."Milla would know, of course, being the star and the wife of writer-director-producer Paul W.S. Anderson. However, she is admitting that there might be some issues getting the film ready, and since is the fourth rodeo, problematic 3-D technology is as sensible a culprit as any. I think most of our regular readers who sound off on 3-D aren't loving the new trend of using this technology for so many films. I have no real issue with it in this case because, four films in, you need a serious gimmick to get new converts to the Resident Evil franchise. It worked for Final Destination. And you don't expect to see anything relevatory in an Other Paul Anderson movie, so I don't think 3-D helps or hinders this in any way. Other than potentially clocking it back a few months, that is.

I just received word from Screen Gems that the film has been moved to January 14, 2011.

Milla Jovovich in 3D, whatever it takes, make it happen.
Hmm I bet if you could add 3D to the fifth element it would work well.
