Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 2:36AM Josh Brolin Rumored for 'Men In Black 3'
Sony wants to get back in the Men in Black business because it turns out Sony likes money. We
don't know that Will
Smith will be returning for MIB3, but if you were playing the odds, that'd be the safe bet.
Tommy Lee Jones would also be back in theory, and here's where it gets interesting: Josh Brolin is now rumored to be joining the
cast.

The Los Angeles
Times says that Brolin's role is still up in the air: "He could play a new single-monikered
government agent, with Tommy Lee Jones' Agent K passing the baton to Brolin's character. Or he could play Agent K as a young man. Or
something else entirely."
Hm. I thought the first one seemed like an appropriate threequel idea, but could we get part of Agent K's origin story a la
Godfather Part II? OK, that may be extending logic beyond a reasonable point, but I'm warmer on that idea than I am just
throwing a new agent into the mix because they feel the two main characters are stale. If that's the case, don't make a new damn
movie.
Brolin is enjoying quite a ride, and he deserves it, because he's made smart choices and has delivered better performances. I don't
blame him for cashing in now and then, but he hasn't done too much of it, and even those decisions have turned out well so far. He
turned down Terminator Salvation, for instance.
He's played drama well and he has a great natural sense of humor that would be a great addition to this franchise. And, of course,
if they do go with the first option - the passing of the baton - it could signal the continuation of the series, maybe even into a
new trilogy. I don't know that we need that, or any of it, but I like the idea of Brolin on screen with Smith and especially Jones,
his co-star in No Country for Old Men, although if memory serves, they didn't share a stitch of screen time together.
