Hilarious 'Year One' Super Bowl Commercial
Sunday, February 1, 2009 at 7:15AM
I've been saving this one, not because it's the most dazzling trailer, but because it's the most unique. The Year One has been kind of a question mark since the film was announced last summer. We know it's Jack Black and Michael Cera, and we know it takes place in the era of the Old Testament.

So how is director Harold Ramis going to make that into a comedy? By not changing anything about the actors and letting their well-established natural personalities come out through contemporary dialogue against this prehistoric setting.
Just think of how long that approach has worked for the comic strip B.C.
Anyway, the trailer/commercial will air during the Super Bowl, but it's really just one scene from the movie. And you'll laugh.
"What have I continued to do?" That's David Cross under the beard, of course, and what I'm assuming is a one-scene cameo by Paul Rudd. That, or Harold Ramis is re-writing the Bible. Just think of how long that approach has worked for King James...
The Year One opens on June 19th, which technically, is two days after Jesus' birthday, according to scholars. So maybe they should make this a Wednesday opening, just for the value of the joke.

Nice.
Are you sure that date is Jesus' "real" birthday or the Juneteenth celebration made famous in Midsummer Night's Dream?
It's all so confusing being American and illiterate.
But based on this trailer, it looks like Harold Ramis and company are handing out gifts anyway.
Oh, and thanks for posting all these trailers on your site, because now I can use the game-day commercial breaks to grab a beer, make out with my girlfriend, or grab a beer for my girlfriend.
I will be using the time savings to check back for breaking movie-news at Get the Big Picture.Net, as I don't have a girlfriend.
Go Cardinals!
