Sunday, February 1, 2009 at 1:39AM More 'Star Trek' Footage in This Super Bowl Ad
Check out James Tiberius Kirk (Chris Pine) as the brash, cowboyed-up anti-hero in this new Star Trek ad. This one will run during the Super Bowl and while it's not the best in show of that group of commercials, it does show some promise.

In addition to Kirk the punk, there's the J.J. Abrams slick mingling of action and PG-13 rated sex. I'm surprised by how much non-Enterprise stuff there appears to be, even though this is a prequel. But knowing how much Abrams can squeeze into an hour of television, he can probably juggle it all for two hours here.

May is stockpiling the hits. Wolverine, Terminator, Angels & Demons, Night at the Museum, Up, and Star Trek should go for nearly $1.5 billion in U.S. business by themselves. This one's right in the middle of everything, opening on May 8th.
