It was bound to happen. We've had movies about haunted video tapes, phone messages from the great beyond, and I believe they're actually making a movie about evil text messages, so a thriller based on social networking had to happen sooner or later.

Dimension Films is developing an idea - or at least half of one - from actress Sara Rue, who fashioned a new spin on the classic Agatha Christie tale, Ten Little Indians. Only with Facebook. Leatherfacebook, maybe?
Said the film's newly appointed writer, T.S. Faull of the concept, "Online identities can be deceptive and the script will center on a social networking situation with truly dangerous consequences." So, OK, like Hard Candy, then?
“Online social networking is a widespread phenomenon that interests me greatly,” said Dimension boss Bob Weinstein in a statement. “Combining it with a suspense thriller is a new and fresh way to explore this new trend.”
Someone needs to show Bob One Missed Call, before he makes this mistake again.

The text message movie is for real and in the can. It's called "Text" and my sister worked on it last year. Should be a giant steaming pile. It was shot simultaneously with Phantasm 5, so with that kind of sheer focus, don't expect much from either of those, not that you really should anyway.
Thanks for the refreshing candor, Kevin. Is it a legit movie or a spoof? Sorry to use "legit" like that, but you know what I mean.
