Friday, February 13, 2009 at 9:45AM 'Watchmen' Trailer for 'Black Freighter' DVD
It's not really part of the movie so much as it is a facet of Watchmen lore, but Tales of the Black Freighter will still get its own movie, scheduled to come out on DVD on March 10th.

If you're still new to all of this, Black Freighter is the comic within the comic, referenced throughout the original Alan Moore-Dave Gibbons classic, but it doesn't have anything specifically to do with the way the story of the Watchmen ultimately unfolds. It appears in several issues of the original, more as a counterpoint to the Watchmen storyline than anything else. Still, Warner Bros. knew it had something special on its hands when it started making Watchmen, so a Black Freighter animated feature is a fantastic idea for an off-shoot, especially because you hate to discard it for purposes of efficiency in the movie.
There's a new trailer for the DVD over at MTV, and that voice you hear is Gerard Butler:
There are dozens of cool Watchmen collectibles on the way - books, CDs, and more - so be on the lookout for all of those, and be sure to check out this DVD on March 10th.
