Curious 'Fast and Furious' Poster

I'll direct you to the first minute of the first Fast & Furious trailer if you want to see this one at its best. Beyond that, it just looks like a more expensive version of the first movie, which may indeed be the point. After all, when Paul Walker rolled through Phoenix to promote the original years ago, he did introduce the film by saying, "I think you guys will like it. It's got cars and chicks and stuff."

There's a new poster, which we skimmed at Coming Soon, and it appears to at least have cars and chicks. I like film's tagline - "New Model. Original Parts." - and I guess there's some hope here that the action might be pretty intense. Otherwise, why bother?

Is it just me, or does Jordana Brewster seems like an afterthought on this poster? Her picture doesn't look as aligned as the others, the shadowing on her face looks wrong (if light were coming from the left, wouldn't she have the least amount of light instead of the most?), and even her credit with the title looks thrown on at the last minute. If they'd just listed Walker, The Pacifier, and Michelle Rodriguez, it would look much more streamlined. Maybe somebody's agent made a call...

Don't think I'm spoiling anything when I say that Ms. Brewster's character dies in the first reel. That's why the producers didn't feel like she belonged on the poster...

You spoiled it for me, but then I wasn't paying too much attention, anyway.

In fact, If you look at it, she's sort of hovering over the other characters like a "ghost". She's smiling because all of her earthly troubles are over.

You heard it here first!

Which might also explain her more pallid appearance...

Size and shading issues aside, it also doesn't look like they left the right amount of grain in her face to have her gel with the rest of the poster. Maybe they just dropped in a headshot they had on file rather than take the time and expense to shoot a better-fitting photo. Her photo I could almost live with, but her name is obviously added after the rest of the poster was designed.

The ComingSoon.net watermark looks more correctly placed than her additions.

This poster is just terrible. You are absolutely right about the Brewster add in. Theres almost no question that they threw her image in there at the last minute. Just look at Rodriguez and Walker with one eye showing and then I bet originally it was supposed to be Diesel last with his whole face since he is the big selling point of the new film. The addition of Brewster screwed it up completely.
But really I doubt this will make even the smallest difference in how much money the movie makes,

I just re-watched "Strays" , Vin Diesel's first movie. The "making of" featurette is awesome, and in a way, makes you appreciate the "Kevin Smith" breaking into Hollywood on your credit cards mentality so prevalent in the 90's that much more.

Paul Walker was always going to suck in a Keanu Reeves sort of way, but Vin Diesel should have been so much more...

That said, how cool would a "Point Break" remake/re-imagining be with these two in the roles made famous by Keanu and Swayze?
