Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 7:12PM Sign of the Apocalypse: The Hilary Duff/Toby Keith Movie
I couldn't say whether or not Hilary Duff would make a good Bonnie Parker in a new version of the Bonnie & Clyde story, which everyone defines as not being a remake of the classic 1967 film. The reason I couldn't say is because, as a film critic, I've never seen her act. Oh, I've seen her in movies. I've just never seen her act.

My hunch is the same as yours: Aren't there hundreds of actresses in that age range who might give a better showing? Well, Duff is out to prove you wrong...by co-starring in a movie with Toby Keith.
That's right: Lizzie McGuire and the Ford truck spokesman who will put a boot in your ass because it's the American way will appear in Provinces of the Night, according to Production Weekly (via Cinema Blend). And if that's not enough to get you to leave a blank space on your Oscar ballot, read the description:

"It’s 1952, and E.F. Bloodworth is finally coming home to Ackerman’s Field, Tennessee. Itinerant banjo picker and volatile vagrant, he’s been gone ever since he gunned down a deputy thirty years before. Two of his sons won’t be home to greet him: Warren lives a life of alcoholic philandering down in Alabama, and Boyd has gone to Detroit in vengeful pursuit of his wife and the peddler she ran off with. His third son, Brady, is still home, but he’s an addled soothsayer given to voodoo and bent on doing whatever it takes to keep E.F. from seeing the wife he abandoned. Only Fleming, E.F.’s grandson, is pleased with the old man’s homecoming, but Fleming’s life is soon to careen down an unpredictable path hewn by the beautiful Raven Lee Halfacre."I would assume that Duff will play Raven Lee Halfacre, which rivals Rafe McCawley in Pearl Harbor for silliest name your supposed to take seriously. Duff and Toby Keith...man, I hope there's an Inside the Actor's Studio episode dedicated to this one.

Wondering if Toby beating the crap out of a fan at a show last week will effect his film career at all.
