'Family Guy' Mocks Christian Bale

Even though it debuted about ten days after the fact, let's give Family Guy this much: It's not like the show could've pulled this off any sooner.

So last night, Peter Griffin goes off on one of his usual extended sidebars, and who should be haraunged but early February whipping boy, Christian Bale. We've heard plenty of these Bale spoofs in the past couple of weeks, but I wouldn't have even brought it up if it hadn't been entertaining.

Take a look:

Of course, the news cycle molts so quickly now that the Christian Bale outburst was old news three days later, and was completely shoved out of the spotlight by Joaquin Phoenix, so I wonder if this spoof has any chance at all of holding up when the episode plays in repeats.

Alas, this is the problem traditional animation faces. Family Guy and The Simpsons have something like an 11 month turn-around. In today's TMZ world it's tough to get relevant jokes on the small screen. South Park, being computer animated (news to most, I know) has a much faster turn around. Episodes that run on Thursday nights were likely written on Monday.
