'The Fugitive' On the Run Again?

You never know what you're going to get with Production Weekly. They've been right a few times, and then they also broke the news that the next Batman movie was being filmed this spring. So...pack extra salt.

One of the industry publication's latest updates claims that Warner Bros. wants another Fugitive movie. The Harrison Ford-Tommy Lee Jones flick was one of the few semi-intelligent action movies of the 1990s to get it right. Oscar nominations and a win for Jones followed, and the film made tons of money.

Of course, if you're one of those people who thinks this remake speaks to Hollywood's lack of creativity, I'll remind you that the movie already was a remake. The original Fugitive, based on the real case of Dr. Sam Sheppard, aired on CBS in the 1960s. The final episode is one of the best and highest rated of all time. So by the time Ford et al got around to it, it was hardly an original idea.

I don't have a problem revisiting the story eventually, although I think 15 years is a little quick on something like this. Maybe give it another decade or so, and change the characters around a little bit. One reason I'm hesitant to bring this one back is that it puts us one step closer to the Six Days, Seven Nights remake. I shudder at the thought.

It's not even the FIRST remake since the Jones/Ford version. CBS remade the series a few years ago with one of the guys from "Wings." I think it was Tim Daly, but I'm not sure. It was THAT memorable.

Yes, Tim Daly, brother of Tyne. Not a good show...
