Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 10:45PM 'New Moon' Elevates 'Twilight' to a "Saga"
Take yourself too seriously much? In anticipiation of this fall's New Moon, the second film in the Twilight...uh...frachise or series, there's a brand new logo that tries to raise the property value a little bit.
MTV got its hands on the new logo which claims, as you can read, that New Moon is now part of the Twilight "saga." Uh-huh.

So what's wrong with that? Didn't Star Wars eventually become known as a saga too? Well, sure, I suppose it did. But even George Lucas never billed it as a saga. It was never officially marketed that way. Oh, and even if he did, he sure as hell didn't start three months after the release of Star wars. You don't call yourself a saga. It's like telling everyone your new nickname is "King" or "Sexy."
Now I hope it fails miserably. I'm rooting for the next movie to be a disaster. Saga, my ass.

Sounds like the studio honchos are thinking this franchise is well on the way to making them filthy, filthy, filthy, JK Rowling rich. I can't wait until they try to split the last book in the series into two films, prolonging the saga just a little while longer.
Magical.
I do not think calling New Moon part of a saga is meant to sound pretentious. The book series has always been called "The Twilight Saga." For people who do not know the books, if they saw the title "New Moon" in movie listings they would most likely have no idea that it is connected to Twilight. I think the new title is just meant to connect it to the first movie as a sequal.
As the other person said. The Book series, which has already proven itself, is called the twilight saga. The company isn't jumping the gun, or trying to be arrogant in calling it that. I also agree with the fact that New Moon, just in title, is hard to connect to the title Twilight. Most movies all have a similar title, with this one having a completely different one they had to tie it all together.
