Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 9:14PM Trailer - South of the Border Sci-Fi, 'Sleep Dealer'
I'm a lot more interested in what this trailer is selling than I am in the trailer itself. Sleep Dealer is a slightly futuristic sci-fi movie that made a splash at Sundance last year, taking home the screenwriting award.

Its vision of what's in store for us is troubling, and writer-director Alex Rivera wisely ties it to contemporary events to lend even more gravity to the story. Sleep Dealer takes place on and around the American-Mexican border, after the big wall has been sealed the border. And that's only the beginning of the problems.

Ah, dystopia, wherefore art thou? That's a pretty big-brained concept to squeeze into a tiny little trailer, but again, I'm more interested in what it's selling than the sales tool itself. I'll look for it, and we'll keep it on the radar for you, too. Sleep Dealer opens on April 17th.

I like the concept, the trailer is right out of the 80's style all about telling me the story.
