Box Office - 'Madea' Fixes Troubled Economy

All your base are belong to Madea. Tyler Perry's latest, Madea Goes to Jail, will probably be the only movie to gross more than $10 or $12 million this weekend...and it may do $40 million in three days. The new comedy, free of critical naysaying since it wasn't screened for the press, collected over $14 million on Friday, based on estimates from Box Office Mojo. That's more than the rest of the top six combined. Clearly, we misunderestimated Madea on Thursday when we predicted a figure in the low twenties. However, these movies don't age gracefully, so we could see this number immediately crash just like last week's winner, Friday the 13th, which scored the highest opening weekend for a horror movie a week ago, and will be lucky now to finish in the top five, maybe with $10 million. Probably not, though. So because Madea has a history, had no direct competition, and its strongest competitor so far has been Taken, now in its fourth week of release, the march is on. One other interesting note: There's a slight chance that Slumdog Millionaire could cross the $100 million mark in domestic sales on Oscar Sunday, and wouldn't that be appropriate? More than likely, that total will have to wait a day or two, but the slew of Oscar victories should mean another $10 - $15 million more for it.

I hate to be a picky pedant, but that's exactly the quality I'm going to display right now.
What I want to know is who writes these stories for Getthebigpicture?!! Whoever it is needs a few intensive sessions of journalism / english language classes. That first sentence -"All your base are belong to Madea" - was a preposterous, badly written supposition and a very good example of "quod erat demonstrandum". The writer could easily have done away with that first sentence and the writing would have appeared 100% less clumsy.

So many people in today's celeb-obsessed, attention-span-of-a-gnat society are already too ignorant. Please, Getthebigpicture, do not continue to feed that ignorance. If you are going to post articles like this in the future, then please at least indulge in a spot of editing. Sheesh!!
