Friday, February 20, 2009 at 8:03PM Trailer - Judd Apatow's 'Funny People'
Give this one more than 30 seconds of your time, and you might find it's actually quite good.
Judd Apatow's next movie, Funny People will be in theaters this summer, and if the trailer's anything like
the movie, it's more mature and subdued than his previous two efforts as a director.

Adam Sandler plays one of the world's most successful comedians, who hires an up-and-comer (Seth Rogen) to write
material for him around the same time Sandler's life takes a 90-degree turn.
Mrs. Apatow, Leslie Mann, and Eric Bana lead the supporting cast, which includes Jason Schwartzman, Jonah Hill,
and one of the really underrated post-Beatles Beatle songs.

See what I mean? It wasn't what I was expecting, but around a minute in I started warming up to it. You can check
out Funny People in theaters on July 31st.

I am about the only person in America who likes Adam Sandler in his more subdued roles. This by no means looks like Reign on Me, but it isn't Little Nicky either...
Spanglish and Punch Drunk Love are probably me two favorite Sandler affairs, and though they aren't his top grossing movies, they are the most affecting.
This flick, being directed by Apatow, might finally bridge the gap for Sandler.
Rogan on the other hand...
There's no saving Rogan.
This looks surprisingly good, It might put Apatow over the top, to the point where we have to actually take him seriously... I mean, it looks like a real movie.
Great call on the Ringo song, too. It really makes the trailer... hopefully it makes the movie, too.
