Sunday, February 22, 2009 at 8:35PM Oscars: Best Actress Kate Winslet
Best Actress:
Anne Hathaway - Rachel Getting Married
Angelina Jolie - Changeling
Melissa Leo - Frozen River
Meryl Streep - Doubt
Kate Winslet - The Reader Winner: Kate Winslet
She's in the club. And while Meryl Streep is without question the greatest female actor we've ever seen (and continues to set the standard with performances like her nominated work in Doubt), there's a small group of women who are taking that mantle for their own generation, and Kate stands with Cate at the head of that group. I mean, this is Winslet's sixth nomination in about a dozen years. And when you consider that The Reader primarily only received its nominations because of Winslet's portrayal, a win here stands to reason and is justly deserved.

Congrats to Kate, finally, it's a lifetime achievement for her, remember little children, enternal sunshine, titanic, and revolutionary road recently- She is amazing
Not her best work, but she's overdue. Poor Meryl, snubbed 13 times.
Meryl has lost more than any other actor has been nominated. Or, her losses are tied with Nicholson's nominations. It's really almost criminal that almost 30 years of work by the best actress alive has lost to inferior performances. I don't mean this case, so much. Then again, being nominated for Devil Wears Prada smacks of just being obligatory.
Kate you are always awesome and in the titanic you are just, there is no words to describe you and now in the revolutionary road you are really amazing.

Ths movie is nice.
It does not follow that because we do not subsidize smoking, we should not regulate unhealthy activities. Costs and savings are not the only variable. The fact that obesity creates costs is merely an additional reason to regulate it, not the only one. The main reason is its danger to an individual. You are dismissive of subsidizing smoking precisely because of this moral intuition. ukoliu ukoliu - supra tenis.
