Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 9:29PM Spielberg's 'Lincoln' Still Moving Forward
Already having spent years in development, the news last week that Steven Spielberg's Abraham
Lincoln movie might be put on the back burner for financial reasons was a real bummer. So I guess it's a good
thing there's another side to the story.

Sources claiming inside knowledge said that Paramount had skipped over Spielberg's Lincoln because of its
price tag, which is supposedly in the very modest $50 million range. Entertainment Weekly says that it
received word that other studios had passed, as well, but now Spielberg's publicist, Marvin Levy, is fighting
those rumors.
"Lincoln is alive and well and continues in active development," Levy tells the magazine. "Everyone is proceeding
with great enthusiasm. The script is still being revised by Tony Kushner and our plans are now to shoot the
picture later this year."
Liam Neeson is reportedly still a go to play the 16th president, and I've heard no change in plans regarding Sally
Field as Mary Todd Lincoln. Of course, the big question mark is John Wilkes Booth, but I think I have the answer
to that: Jeremy Davies. He was Spielberg's Corporal Upham in Private Ryan, he was fantastic in Rescue
Dawn, and he's been great on Lost the past couple of years.
That's where I'd go.
