Three New 'Wolverine' Pics

X-Men Films was the lucky recipient of three new Wolverine images, featuring a very pumped Hugh Jackman. I know what you're thinking, but he's definitely clean now. I mean, yeah, he and his cousin went to the Dominican Republic back in 2001 and got some over-the-counter stuff and he used it for a couple of years because there was so much pressure on him to perform, but he stopped years ago. I have a feeling that because Fox had a pretty dismal year for blockbusters in 2008, we're going to see a full- scale assault when Wolverine gets closer to theaters. I'd say we're about a month away from that little blitzkrieg, and it'll run straight through the second week of May. Click on the photos to see larger versions the jacked Jackman. I'm a Marvel Comics purist. I hear Excelsior in my dreams. And when they first cast (a relatively unknown) Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, I was kind of pissed. I could see why they did it, but Wolverine in my mind (because of him in comics and his namesake) should be a small but impressively, unexpectedly powerful man. A spitfire. And I also always kind of pictured an accent (since the ol' canucklehead is from Canada, eh).

But Hugh Jackman has been everything I could have ever hoped for in this role. He's owned it and played in a way that the old guard Marvel guys like myself can be happy with. Sure, he's almost two feet taller than he's supposed to be, and in the second movie he was wearing an awful wig, but all in all there could not have been a better Wolverine than Mr. Jackman.
