A report from Blue Sky Disney indicates that Monsters, Inc. director Pete Docter is
prepping a follow-up to Pixar's Oscar-nominated Best Animated Feature.

Docter will spend the next few months wrapping up his work on this summer's Pixar flick, Up, although the
article says Docter may have been spending plenty of time already working on ideas for another adventure with Mike
and Sully. It's presumed that Pixar would slot the sequel as its 2013 release.
While Pixar has gained a reputation for creating wonderful, original family fare, sequels are apparently part of the company's future. We know already that Toy Story 3 is due out in 2010, and there have been rumors over the years about some other titles in the Pixar catalog, and depending on how successful Toy Story will be (hint: very successful), we might see this become a growing trend.
I've always thought Monsters, Inc. was one of the underrated Pixar movies, despite how much money it made. In my mind, it was a better pick for the animated Oscar than Shrek that year.

I don't like the idea of this. The good thing about Pixar is they've pretty much avoided sequels until now. If they start making a sequel of everything they'll be no different from Dreamworks.
