A Few More 'Sherlock Holmes' Images

USA Today has an official shot and The Bad and the Ugly some decidedly less arranged photos from the set of Sherlock Holmes, the Guy Ritchie interpretation of literature's greatest detective.

The USA Today image is the first one featuring Sherlock, Watson, and Irene Adler (RDJ, Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams). They look shocked or at least surprised. Those are my finely tuned powers of deduction talking.

The stuff from The Bad and the Ugly is Rachel McAdams walking to or from the set wearing the worst damn prom dress I've ever seen. I don't know if it's the dress or the camera, but she doesn't look like a girl who's reportedly all twitterpated with Josh Lucas. (Yeah, that's the latest. Disappointing, right?) My guess is it's the camera rather than the costume that's got her in such a closed-off mood.

Since we had so many Super Bowl trailers, I can't help but wonder when we'll see a minute or two of this fall release from Warner Bros. My guess is this won't premiere in front of a big WB release, since they won't have a trailer cut in time for Watchmen (besides, it's not that big a deal) and it really doesn't fit the Terminator crowd.

So we'll probably get a teaser trailer this spring, followed by one with all the trimmings around the time Harry Potter arrives in July.

It looks more like a spoof than the real thing.

Also, using modern, cheap silk in a badly made dress is going to ruin whatever scene it appears in.

I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't RDJ's "Bonfire of the Vanities".
