No 'Wall-E' Sequels for Director Andrew Stanton

Pixar has always done pretty well with the "leave 'em wanting more" philosophy of filmmaking: Nine movies, one sequel. That is, of course, unless you count all the direct-to-DVD spin-offs, in which case, they're a bunch of whores.

But for the sake of argument, look at it this way: Toy Story 2 is the only theatrically released sequel in Pixar's proud history. And it looks like it will remain that way for a while. Director Andrew Stanton tells MTV he's not up for another Wall-E adventure. “Personally, I never consider sequels,” Stanton says.

“I think that takes a lot of hubris to think that your idea is going to live on and on, and I always love the idea of something just being contained and done.”

"I’m not against sequels," he adds, "but I don’t go in with that intent.” He certainly wouldn't have the time to do one now even if he had the motivation, what with John Carter of Mars next on his agenda.

There is, of course, a Toy Story 3 on the way in 2010, and I don't mind that with as much fun as the first two movies were. And it's certainly respectable that Pixar seems to work with filmmakers who want to keep moving forward, both for themselves and for the company. It's not by accident that they've had so many excellent movies.

I know that they are making a sequel to "Cars." Personally, I would love to see a sequel to "The Incredibles."

Depending on the situation, a life without sequels is pretty rad. I agree with Chris up there, if done right I would love to see a sequel to The Incredibles. I just hate to see sequels ruin anything.

To be completely honest, I'm obsessed with this movie. If there isn't some sort of sequel, I might die. Not that I'm urging anyone to start rolling some film, I'm just another huge fan desperate for more. I mean, isn't everyone? I may be no pro, but i have a few ideas rolling around in my head...just fragments, really, but ideas nonetheless...they may or may not be considerable...who knows......?

I love this movie, it's a shame that they decide not to make another.
