Joaquin Phoenix Defends Indefensible Rap Career
Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 12:38AM
Count me among the many who don't know what to think of Joaquin Phoenix' recent bizarre behavior. The
thumbing his nose at Hollywood, the music career he's clearly not cut out for, and the rumored documentary about Exhibit B
which kind of makes Exhibit A a moot point. If he pulling a prank? Or is he on the level, albeit at a level most of us find
hard to take seriously?

Phoenix says it's no hoax: His music now comes first. Of course, he said it at a film junket, but no matter. Joaq is
promoting Two Lovers, the last movie he'll ever act in, or so he says. And (via Worst Previews) he addressed the
rumors circulating that his new gig as a rap artist is a put on.
"I don't know where that comes from," he said. "If it comes from people that I've had a falling out with, that are (ticked)
off at me?"
"There's not a hoax," insisted Phoenix, whose first album will be produced by Sean Combs. "Might I be ridiculous? Might my
career in music be laughable? Yeah, that's possible, but that's certainly not my intention."
Well, the good news is, we don't have to tip toe around how laughable his music is. That's a relief.

Ah, if only it was an elaborate hoax. Although this way might be much more amusing.
Puh-leeeeze. I hope it's a hoax...and that he's still playing it as if it's not a hoax....as part of the hoax....that's the only way he can not come off as a complete poon in my eyes.
Now be honest Emo... you were just looking for an opportunity to say "poon" in a sentence.
Great picture above. Does anyone else feel like Casey Affleck is holding in laughter himself? Poor Casey...family obligations must suck if this isn't a hoax.
Well, cocaine is a hell of a drug. Is it me, or does he look like a homeless man?
The man clearly has no real friends if they let him do this to himself.
Still, it's a a sharp reminder that actors are people too and that sometimes the facade will crack and tumble.
I'd love to direct the documentary on Casey Affleck being trapped into directing this documentary. That would be compelling viewing.
I'd feel a lot better if his music career would be just a side line and he would still be making films.
He has such a wonderful, God given talent, that shouldn't go to waste. I will miss his films.
Well, I listened to his interview for his last film here...

...and I must say that it raises some concern about his sobriety.
What happened to him? I can't figure it out? I get the impression his family evolves around him, and he needs constant attention. Is he serious with anyone? How can his girlfriend put up with his self-centerness. Everything about Joaquin...he's so pompous.
If he doesn't watch his own movies, he better watch the video that's plastered on the Internet. Maybe he should take a good look at himself. Maybe he will see what we see....a mess.
