It's an unsurprising development, sure, but it's a development all the same. Marc Malkin of The Letter After D has revealed that Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia
Nixon, Kim Cattrall, and Kristin Davis have all signed on for the Sex and the City sequel (Sex and the Sequel for short), and and writer-director Michael Patrick King will also be back.

"I'm very excited to work with these
amazing actresses again and would love to give everyone more information
about the sequel," said King, "but I'm busy with my Sex life."
After the incredible success of the TV spin-off last summer, earning $58 million in its debut weekend and over $400 million worldwide, the sequel seemed inevitable. Of course, at one point, tensions between Parker and Cattrall were running so high that the first movie seemed unlikely.
Money is a great deodorant, though, and now we're moving on to the second chapter, clearly in spite of the fact that the ideas have run their course. The film didn't add much substantively to the journeys of the characters, and you wonder how another one will be able give us something useful.
The Sex sequel is expected to shoot this summer for a release in summer 2010.
