Monday, February 9, 2009 at 10:29AM 'Inglourious Basterds' Trailer to Debut This Week
According to Tarantino.info (by way of Cinema Blend), we'll see a new trailer for QT's
Inglourious Basterds by the end of the week. I have no idea why it's so important to get the word out six
months early on this film, especially since they're still filming it, but apparently it will debut during
Thursday's Entertainment Tonight. And when I think Tarantino, I think nationally syndicated celebrity
shows.

Will Basterds be attached to a movie set for theaters this weekend? I don't know. I'd think it could wind
up in the Oscars in another week, but when AMPAS said it was allowing trailers in the Academy Awards for the first
time a couple of months ago, the verdict was one commercial per studio, and I don't think Universal would want to
promote this over some other movies. The Weinstein Company might, though, so I guess that is a viable option.
The film - misspelled on purpose, we believe - is a throwback to the exploitation war movies of the 1970s,
starring Brad Pitt as the leader of a squadron of Jewish-American soldiers sent into Nazi Germany during WWII to
butcher Hitler's army. It'll be in theaters this August, and the plan is to premiere Basterds at Cannes in May.
