Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 3:10AM Jason Segel Has Finished the Muppet Movie Script
Jason Segel was on Craig Ferguson tonight/last night, stumping for his upcoming comedy I Love You,
Man. Ferguson asked him a question on everybody's mind: What's going on with the Muppet movie?

Quick rewind...Segel signed on last summer to write a new movie for Kermit et al, after the success of his Forgetting
Sarah Marshall. The last time he appeared on Ferguson's show, he asked the Scottish host if he'd consider making a cameo
in the Muppet movie, a time-honored celebrity tradition. At the time, Ferguson said he'd be delighted to.
Segel updated the project - and forgive me for paraphrasing, but I didn't have the TiVo going - by saying the script is
complete, and he turned it into the studio. I can imagine it's both thrilling and daunting to write for the Muppets. On the one hand, how cool is it that you get to write dialogue for some of the favorite characters from your childhood? On the other hand, everyone else knows them very well, too, so you can't miss the mark writing for any of them. I'm sure there will be some alterations from the Henson clan, but having a completed script is big news.
When it came time for all those celebrity cameos, Segel said he just left the
slots blank. Not having stars committed to join the film, he just listed them as Celebrity 1, Celebrity 2. But the bosses
later asked Segel who he envisioned in the cameo roles.
The writer-actor-musician sheepishly admitted not knowing any celebrities firsthand and, in a pinch, just listed last year's
selections for People's 50 Most Beautiful People. Don't hold him to that.
But the real headline here is that the script is done, and I think the selection of Segel was a pretty inspired choice, frankly.
The still untitled Muppet movie is scheduled for a 2010 release.

After the uninspired premise of Sarah Marshall, I don't know how this can be an exciting premise. Marshall was a retread of one of the most retarded sitcom ideas that every damn show did in the 80s and 90s. Segel is fine as a character actor, but I don't believe he has the chops to pull this off. This is going to be awful, in my opinion.
Can't wait to see Beaker singing "Dracula's Lament". Ha!
That would be sweet!
He'd better not muck up the Muppets, damn it.
Oh goodie a new muppet movie with a brand new muppet character !?
Why do i get the feeling this means Rowlf gets evin more shunted from the cast *sigh*
