'Dark Knight' Nominated for Eleven Saturn Awards

The Dark Knight should finally clean house at an awards show when The 35th annual Saturn Awards are presented this summer. The film is up for 11 awards total, and though I hate to be a stickler, Jumper also received a nomination and it's over a full year old.

Regardless, the Saturn Awards put the spotlight on science fiction, fantasy, and horror, and as it relates to those categories, they gets it right more often than not, at least where the winners are concerned. There are awards for movies and televsion - where Lost also collected 11 nominations - so it's a full night of sensational awards fun.

The weird thing about this particular honor is that it happens so late in the year. This year, the Saturn Awards will be handed out on June 25th, meaning that if The Dark Knight wins everything, it'll be almost a year old. If Iron Man takes home Best science Fiction Film, which it should, it will be nearly 14 months old.

When it comes to the acting categories, they lump all the performances together, rather than having Best Science Fiction Actor or something. That keeps those categories really competitive, in my estimation.

Here are the film nominees; if you're interested in the TV nominations, check out the official site of the Saturn Awards.
