Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 9:51PM Insaaaane: Huckster Crazy Eddie Gets a Bio-Pic
I have wondered from time to time whatever happened to Crazy Eddie. If you live or lived in
the tri-state area, you already know who I'm talking about. My exposure to the discount electronics salesman came through
WOR, one of the few superstations of the early days of basic cable. Eddie was everywhere, even though I was 1,500
miles away. And then he wasn't.

Danny DeVito
will now tell us what happened next. DeVito will step behind the camera for the bio-pic, which is
being writen by Peter Steinfeld (21). Variety
says that Crazy Eddie (Eddie Antar) is cooperaing with
the production, which will show everything, including Crazy Eddie's crazy fraud that got him locked up for six
years and cost him $150 million.
It's not your typical fraud story, however. After taking the company public, he skimmed money and lied about his
inventory to make his stock prices go up. Once the feds caught on, Antar fled to Israel, where he'd been storing
money for years, but was eventually extradited in the 1990s.
See: I had no idea. Sounds like a great idea for a movie to me.
