Marvel Has New Release Dates Through 2012
Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 12:33PM
It's been a busy 24 hours for Marvel. The comic book titan, which has become one of the big names in movie production, as well,
signed Mickey Rourke for Iron Man 2, and now there's
confirmation that Scarlett Johansson will play Black Widow in that film, too. Not really a great pick, incidentally. But that's only the beginning of the updates.

Marvel has announced new release dates for pretty much everything on its itinerary after
Iron Man 2.
Thor,
Captain America, Avengers, and the unrelated
Spider-Man 4 all have new opening weekends, and Thor and The Avengers have been moved back an entire year. Spidey will now debut on May 6, 2011, part of Marvel's grand plan to kick off the summer blockbuster season every year between 2008 and 2012. But that's more a Sony product now than a Marvel one, really.
It was supposed to be Thor hitting theaters next summer, then Captain America and The Avengers in 2011, but now Marvel has spread itself out a little bit. Here's a look at the old release dates and the new release dates:
Iron Man 2 - May 7, 2010 (no change)
Spider-Man 4 - May 6, 2011 (TBA 2011)
Thor - June 17, 2011 (July 16, 2010)
Captain America - July 22, 2011 (May 6, 2011)
The Avengers - May 4, 2012 (July 15, 2011)

Spider-Man 4 - May 6, 2011 (TBA 2011)
Thor - June 17, 2011 (July 16, 2010)
Captain America - July 22, 2011 (May 6, 2011)
The Avengers - May 4, 2012 (July 15, 2011)
