| Miss March
Starring Zach Cregger and Trevor Moore ![]() |
The comedy troupe The Whitest Kids U’Know has been operating away from the mainstream for some time. The show that
bears the group’s name airs on IFC, and like a lot of sketch comedy ensembles before them, an attempt has been made
to bring their particular brand of humor to theaters.
Various Saturday Night Live characters
have hit the big screen - some more memorably than others - as have Bob and Doug McKenzie from SCTV and The
Kids in the Hall. Success is not always automatic in these cases.
The problem with this film is that Miss March shares almost none of the show’s
peculiar sensibilities. There is no Abe Lincoln assassinated because he’s heckling performers at Ford Theatre.
There is no Hitler the rap star. Miss March is just another road trip/sex romp flick. And what a shame that is.
Honestly, if you replace the two stars, there's nothing in the situations or in the writing that would make it
obvious that this movie is any way connected to The Whitest Kids U'Know.
In the moments before he finally has sex on his prom night, Eugene (Zach Cregger) falls down a
flight of stairs and winds up in a four-year-long coma. Back among the living, his friend Tucker (Trevor
Moore) tells Eugene that the girl of his dreams is now a Playboy playmate; you can
guess the month.
It's an uninspired setup, really. A road trip movie should pass one test: Before the car hits the road, you whould
want to make that same trip. And you'd really rather not in this case.

Shame, because WKUK is absolutely hilarious, and I saw (and really enjoyed) the red-band trailer, so I was hoping for the best here.
Still might go see it this weekend, but if not either Watchmen again or wait until I Love You Man next week.
